Veer Makes Love With the Sun

Anyone who knows (and loves) Veer knows (and loves) their unique and expertly designed mail pieces. From puzzles to activity books to giant 3' x 4' posters, I will admit that I actually lick my lips when I see that Veer logo peeking out among the bills, mags and buy-this-buy-that ephemera.

Veer's newest -- a postcard-sized kraft board with debossed, spot varnished letters -- arrived from Veer last Friday, and I thought hey, this is pretty nice. It's a piece for their new "green" photo collection -- lots of skies, tents and leaves/branches/trees. You know, the usual. I thought the plain kraft stock was right in line with the natural, earthy message, but not exactly surprising. Then, I read the small type at the bottom of the piece; it said, "Go outside and watch as the sunlight reveals a phrase on this card."

File Sharing Nirvina: Dropbox
Written by Russ Perry on April 06, 2009 – 9:48 am, 0 comments, 81 hits

99% of the time sharing files with a team (or with your computer at home) usually means opening yourself up to a world of pain. There’s about a million different solutions out there, and believe me, we’ve tried them all. The big issue with sharing files is two fold: making sure everyone is up to date with the latest file and dealing with the large size of the files, especially in our industry. Worry no more marketeers of Phoenix, the time has come to share the hands down most simple, cross platform, easy to use and FREE solution: Dropbox. Dropbox basically creates a folder on your computer that syncs the contents with any other computer with Dropbox installed. The beauty of all of this is it just simply works. You can get the full bells and whistle tour by checking out their video walk through, but here’s the rundown:
- 2GB of FREE Space. That’s 100% ad free, no strings attached free.
- Anyone can set it up, Mac, PC, even the Linux purists.
- It syncs automatically, really automatically.
Now, coming back to sharing files with a team. Once your Dropbox is up and going, open it up and create a folder you’d like to share. Right click (control click on your Mac) on the folder and select “Dropbox -> Share”:

Just wanted to remind everyone we'll be getting updates up from SXSW on the Phoenix Ad Blog through a reporter in the field Kim Stearns. Might not be as fresh as a live Twitter feed, but check it out if you're unable to make it out there this week.

Keane is a bit Greener

While not trying to jump on the "green" bandwagon, we just switched 100% of our power to be pulled from renewable sources through APS's Green Choice Rates. Only about $10 extra a month for our energy consumption rates, no brainer for anyone on APS.
Just trying to do our part.

Fox 10, Olson Communications and DWI Cases
Written by Russ Perry on February 18, 2009 – 6:53 pm, 0 comments, 206 hits

Going through my blog roll today, I saw a post go up from our friends over at Olson Communications.
It was a quick segment discussing the concept of internet addiction, and had a quick clip of Michelle admitting to her Facebook addiction (something I am sure we all share).
Good to see Fox 10 is breaking some hard news, but what caught my eye was the ad that aired before the clip, an ad for a criminal/sex offense attorney who's tag line happens to be, "Call me right now, getting serious help is just that easy".

My Personal Bookmark Zen

Finally after 2 years of accumulating bookmarks from computer to computer, I decided it was time to bite the bullet and clean house.
Three hours later, and with a lot of bookmarks deleted, I conquered that once dreaded drop down menu, and coupled with Foxmarks + Firefox's new tagging recommendations I have achieved bookmarking zen.
Here is a screenshot, let's just say I'm really proud of my new folder hierarchy (hence a company-wide blog about it):
